It’s February, and already I find myself asking, “where has the time gone?” Dan and I moved back to the shelter in January and we have settled right in, but the blurr of one day flying into the next can be consuming.

We started off our return with “Breakfast with Grandpa Dan” so he could meet most of the residents he didn’t know and in order for them to know who their new neighbor is! We had 84 residents who were able to come for a breakfast of biscuits & gravy, M&M pancakes, juice, coffee and yogurt. There wasn’t a hungry person in site by the end of the meal. (you can check out our pictures on facebook)

We are so excited to be living back at the shelter, taking 6 months in our home was wonderful and extremely quiet! Now that we are back, we are getting used to the pit

ter patter of little feet above us. It’s a comforting sound most of the time. And even though our apartment is small, it’s homey and we love living with the residents.

At last count, we had 69 children living here with their parents. From our 6 month old to our 17 year old each and every child is such a blessing. It is fun to see them learn to interact, love one another and even start treating each other like their own brother or sister (yes, that means arguing!!).

Even though I am starting off the new year..a little behind in my blogging…I’m starting. So check back and see the journaling of our staff as often as you wish. We hope to tell you stories and keep you informed on our families.

For more information or to receive weekly prayer request emails, our quarterly newsletter or if you have any questions, please email Cathe at cathe@familyshelter.org or call us at 503-492-3046. We look forward to you joining with us in Helping Families Transform their Lives!
