Help a child start the school year with confidence and joy!

At My Father’s House, back-to-school season is more than new notebooks and backpacks—it’s a chance for families to feel seen, supported, and hopeful. Many of the parents in our program are working hard to rebuild stability, and providing school supplies or clothes for their children can be an extra challenge during an already challenging time.

When you Adopt a Family for Back-to-School, you help lift that weight. Your generosity ensures that every child living at My Father’s House can start the year feeling prepared and proud—ready to learn, grow, and thrive.

How It Works

Sign Up – Email andrea@familyshelter.org to let us know you’d like to adopt a family. We’ll match you with one currently staying at My Father’s House.
Receive a Family List – You’ll receive information about the family’s children, including ages, clothing sizes, and a few wish-list items.
Shop with Heart – Purchase new school supplies, backpacks, or clothing items from their list. You’re welcome to add a few fun extras, too!
Gift Card Option – Prefer a simpler way to give? Gift cards to stores like Old Navy, Kohl’s, Target, or Walmart are a wonderful way to empower parents to shop for their children’s specific needs.
Drop Off Your Gifts – Deliver your items or gift cards to My Father’s House by the date provided, and our team will make sure your family receives everything before school begins.
