Adopt-a-Family for Christmas

Share the joy of the season with families at My Father’s House

Christmas is a time of warmth, generosity, and togetherness—and you can make it truly special for families working hard to rebuild their lives. By adopting a family at My Father’s House, you’ll help parents experience the joy of giving and children feel the magic of being remembered and loved.

How It Works

When you adopt a family for Christmas, you’ll be paired with one of our resident (or recently graduated) families and receive their personalized wish list. Then, you’ll shop for meaningful gifts that help make their holiday bright.

You can choose:

The family size you’d like to adopt (2–5+ members)
Whether you’d prefer to adopt a single mom, single dad, or couple
Whether you’re open to adopting a former resident family who has recently moved into housing

If all families are adopted by the time you reach out, don’t worry—you can join our backup list to help new families who arrive closer to Christmas.

Important Dates

November 1: Deadline to sign up
November 18: Wish lists sent to adopters
December 12: Wrapped gifts due at My Father’s House

Each adopter is asked to purchase up to three gifts per person (around $50 each) and deliver them wrapped to the shelter by December 12.

How to Get Started

To sign up, email andrea@familyshelter.org with:

Your name, email, and phone number
The size of the family you’d like to adopt
Your preferences (family type or openness to former residents)

Andrea will follow up to match you with a family and share all the details you’ll need.
