Children’s Center Staff

Part-Time (16–20 hours a week) | Non-Exempt

Create a Safe, Fun & Christ-Centered Place for Children to Grow
My Father’s House is a Christ-centered, nondenominational ministry serving families experiencing homelessness in Oregon. Our Children’s Center provides a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, play, build relationships, and simply be kids.

We are looking for a Children’s Center Staff member who genuinely loves children, brings energy and patience to their work, and wants to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families.

What You’ll Do

As part of our Children’s Center team, you will:

  • Provide attentive supervision and care for children in a safe, nurturing environment
  • Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, and learning opportunities
  • Encourage children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
  • Assist with daily routines including meals, snacks, playtime, and transitions
  • Build positive and encouraging relationships with children
  • Help children navigate emotions, behavior, and interactions with others
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
  • Follow Children’s Center policies and safety procedures
  • Communicate appropriately with parents and Children’s Center staff
  • Work cooperatively with other team members to provide consistent care
  • Participate in required training, including first aid and other childcare-related training
  • Help create an atmosphere where children feel safe, valued, and loved
  • Perform other duties related to the Children’s Center as assigned

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Is 19 years of age or older
  • Has a genuine love for working with children
  • Is patient, dependable, energetic, and compassionate
  • Can create a fun, positive, and engaging environment
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Can provide appropriate boundaries while building positive relationships with children
  • Has experience working with children in a daycare, school, camp, church, or similar setting
  • Has an understanding of child development (preferred)
  • Is willing to complete required first aid/CPR and other training
  • Can successfully complete required background screening and drug screening
  • Is comfortable working with children from a variety of ages and backgrounds

Most Importantly…

Because of the Christ-centered nature of our ministry, applicants must agree with and be able to support the Mission Statement and Statement of Faith of My Father’s House.

We are looking for someone who sees childcare as more than supervision. Every interaction is an opportunity to help a child feel safe, known, valued, and loved.

Compensation & Benefits

$19–$21 per hour, depending on experience.

Some evening and weekend hours may be required, including Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from approximately 5:00–8:00 p.m. as well as Saturday mornings from 8am-12pm. Additional daytime hours may be available based on the needs of the Children’s Center.
