Facilities Staff

Part-Time (20-25 hours a week) | Non-Exempt

Help Us Maintain a Safe, Welcoming & Dignified Home
My Father’s House is a Christ-centered, nondenominational ministry serving families experiencing homelessness in Gresham, Oregon. We believe every person deserves a safe, clean, and dignified place to live while they work toward stability and lasting change.

We are looking for a Part-Time Facilities Staff member who is dependable, hands-on, takes pride in their work, and enjoys serving others through practical care of our buildings and grounds.

What You’ll Do

You will help keep our shelter, facilities, and grounds safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained. Responsibilities may include:

    • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs throughout our facilities
    • Complete preventative maintenance tasks and routine building checks
    • Identify maintenance, safety, or repair needs and communicate them to leadership
    • Assist with painting, minor remodeling, furniture assembly, and other facility projects
    • Help maintain indoor and outdoor spaces, including basic groundskeeping
    • Keep tools, equipment, supplies, and work areas organized
    • Assist with moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed
    • Respond to maintenance requests from staff and residents
    • Help prepare spaces for events, program activities, resident move-ins, and other organizational needs
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
    • Follow safety procedures and organizational policies
    • Work with contractors or service providers when needed and as directed
    • Assist with snow, weather-related, or other facility needs as necessary
    • Complete other hands-on facilities tasks as assigned

    We’re Looking for Someone Who:

    • Is dependable, responsible, and able to work independently or with a team
    • takes initiative and notices things that need to be done
    • Has practical maintenance, repair, construction, or general handyman experience
    • Is comfortable working with tools and completing basic repairs
    • Has good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Communicates clearly and works well with a team
    • Treats residents, staff, volunteers, and guests with dignity and respect
    • Takes pride in keeping shared spaces clean, safe, and welcoming
    • Has a valid Oregon driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier
    • Has a heart for serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness

    Most Importantly…

    Because of the Christ-centered nature of our ministry, applicants must agree with and be able to support the Mission Statement and Statement of Faith of My Father’s House.

    This is a hands-on position in a shelter environment. The work may include frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, bending, and other physical activity. The ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds is required.

    Compensation & Benefits

    $24–$27 per hour, depending on experience.

    Some evening or weekend hours may occasionally be needed based on facility and organizational needs.
